Water conservation tips and advice
With hosepipe bans, water
shortages and water conservation hitting the
headlines yet again, here are a few tips to
help reduce consumption...
Water early
Early morning or dusk is the
best time, use a watering can rather than a
hosepipe. Aim to soak the roots, where the
water is less likely to evaporate.
Automatic drip watering systems
Automatic drip watering
systems are the most economical and
effortless means of watering your garden.
Delivering precious water on a timed basis,
they're great for the environment, using
some 90% less water than hand-held watering.
Moisture control gel
This brilliant water storing
gel ensures that moisture is absorbed,
retained and released when plants need it,
reducing the need for watering hanging
baskets and containers considerably.
Mulch and borders
Dig well-rotted manure and
New Horizon garden compost into your garden
now to boost your soil quality, help it
retain moisture and improve overall
performance.
For more information
talk to our garden centre team who will be
able to give you some more advice on how to
keep your garden looking fantastic during
dry months and the hose pipe ban.
